The people supplied a Prophetess to Shomat in an attempt to give him proper religious instruction in the way of Yahvo, thus beginning the tradition of the King choosing a prophet or prophetess for guidance.[1]

Prophetesses had been assigned to each King of D'ni but, for the most part, had become nothing more than figureheads, rarely consulted.[2] A relationship between the King and a prophetess was extremely frowned upon as the two were supposed to be objective against each other. There were rumors that King Mararon had affairs with prophetesses, which were vehemently denied by the religious community.[3] Nonetheless King Ji was the only who officially married a prophetess.[4]
