The solastings emerge from the shell of the tings. Hundreds of little solastings pop out and scramble madly in all directions. At first they small and lizardlike; later in their adult stage they are quick-moving and live high in the trees.
They are edible by the Shirnao who cook them. Atrus was able to study one only after it was offered to him as a meal.[1]
